Sunday De-brief
Apparently nobody told a whole lot of people that you’re supposed to slack off and skip out on worship on Labor
Day weekend. Our attendance was off a little, but I was very encouraged by the number of folks who showed up. And we had ourselves some church. I liked it so much I think I’ll go back next Sunday. Some thoughts from the morning.
- Is it just me, or has our Worship Team cranked it out better and better every Sunday lately? I know I’m repeating myself (if you’ve read this blog before), but I like worshiping under the leadership of people who have an authentic love for Jesus. And our Worship Team does.
- We were without lots of our college students today, and I missed them. I’d have gone home for the long weekend too. But I missed them.
- LOVE “Bad Guys of the Bible” videos. Don’t know who thought up mega-fro’d Samson with his mega-hotness, but hat’s off to whoever did.
- And the “Heroes” Volunteer video (with more to come). Kyle Fullwood will now be called Videographer Extraordinaire. Seriously, our volunteers ARE the heroes of The ROCK.
- I’m going to like the Rebels series. Samson, Caleb, John the Baptizer, Jesus. Rebels all. How about you? Rebel or conformist? How addicted are you to affirmation & acceptance by others?
- We announced some fund-raisers today, and I don’t particularly like fund-raisers. But when they are fun, I do. The craziness of a church raffling off a shotgun fits us to a T. And we’re prepping for the Mother of All Yard Sales. And we’re offering a hand-made afghan as a bonus prize for the next person who buys a square. Click that box thing over to the right with the #44 on it for more details on our Hip to Be Square effort.
- Friend Day is October 4. Can we find a place to put 1000 people in that theater?
