Sunday De-Brief
So I was on my way home from Columbia on Saturday night when I realized the evil “daylight savings” time was stealing an hour of my prep/then sleep time. Evidently a LOT of people decided to rebel against the stolen hour and sleep in. Lowest attendance in weeks … and weeks. And weeks. Some other notes about Sunday:
- Music was awesome. Our teaching was about worship, and the musicians set it up beautifully. Sometimes a smaller-than-normal crowd kinda dampens things. This Sunday, I didn’t think so.
- Stephen Robertson’s plexi-box for $1 bills was DA BOMB. We might collect $1’s for a little while longer. All those single bills will go to an India mission trip and Coastal’s FCA. Both will result in lives changed for the glory of God.
- Had fun teaching. I love those teaching times when part of it feels like a personal conversation, and sometimes I just get to brag on God and enjoy that with those listening.
- I think I said “piss” again. I need to weed that out of my vocabulary. (At least my preaching vocab).
- LOVED the video showing “God’s point of view.” That stuff always helps me worship.
- We have a lot of people who have seen Taken … and who watch 24. I love this church.

- God bless the couple who stood to profess their new faith in Christ. Highlight of my day.
- A CLOSE SECOND: The whole jacuzzi baptism / pig-pickin experience. Call it our version of the “church picnic.” Band cranked. Boston butt right off the cooker. And baptism was sweet. I wonder if ANYBODY has as much fun with baptisms as we do.
- One MyGroup brought a flippin RV to party in. LOL.
- Lots of folks meeting other folks. Always sweet.
- ANY time we’re baptizing some 20 people at one event, it is an awesome day.
- Some very cool things going on with a lot of our college students. God is on the move at Coastal. Pray for them. SOOOOO impressed to see a lot of them this morning. Think about that. Lost an hour of sleep. No parents in town to make them get up and go to a church. And lots of them there at both of our events today. God bless you guys.
- Our church relies heavily on some unsung heroes. Many of the same guys who were at the theater at 6am to set up were there at 7pm packing up after our night thing. I SO appreciate you guys. And God will absolutely honor your work.
You will want to be at The ROCK this coming Sunday. The teaching time will feature something you’ve never seen before on a Sunday morning. If you know what’s up, shhhhhhh.
