Sunday De-Brief
A lot of people braved a lot of bad weather reports to come worship together this morning in a movie theater. This morning was our 4th Birthday, and I shared my heart … detailing what I believe is God’s vision for The ROCK. Some thoughts:
- I was amazed to see our main auditorium filled up today. In fact we had VERY little decrease in
attendance overall. - There were so many college students and other young people there that I was blown away. I wish I could say that during most of my college years I was as committed as them. You guys rock.
- Jerimiah (Sean Williams helped with one) did a great job with video: bouncing ball, compilation of ROCK classics.
- Good variety and mix with the music.
- (Time out: As I write this … is that SUNSHINE peaking in the back windows? Dang!) Weather might make me look stupid for rescheduling our Church Birthday Bash.
- I came close to choking up with emotion this morning. It was when all the people stood who have become followers of Jesus since we started.
- Did Matt Brown actually segue from sexual denial to birthday party postponement? I thought so. That took talent.
- We had very serious technical problems right up until time for worship to begin. JP was freaking out and praying out loud. And God came through.
- That brief slice of worship I showed – in case you’re interested – was Kari Jobe singing Revelation Song.
- A friend asked after church where she could give the money to buy a square. Yeah, baby. That’s at least 33 gone.
- Emotional high point of the message: “I see a committee of demons wringing their hands and asking ‘What in Hell can we do about that church in Conway?’”
- High point of my morning: Talking to people who made life-changing decisions for Jesus.
- High points of my afternoon: (1) A facebook comment from a young man – who doesn’t like church – saying he loved The ROCK. (2) An email from a young man who became a follower of Jesus. And wants to be baptized. And wants to get in a MyGroup and volunteer immediately. And said this: Thanks again for choosing your demographic well. If there wasn’t a church like the Rock, I would not be in church.
KA-FREAKING-BAMMMMMM!!!!
I really love this church.

Highest point of service for me was standing with my hubby to show we had given our lives to God!! The next highest point was seeing the vision of what our church was really about. That video really made me see exactly the direction we are going. It excited me so much that I wanted to jump up and start clapping and made my eyes water. Can’t wait to see it happen! The Rock REALLY is life changing and we are just getting started!!!
Sounds like it was great…wish we could have been there to celebrate!
Everyone stood who became Christ followers since the start of The Rock?!? Okay, who wants to kick me for oversleeping and missing that? That’s awesome, and sucks that I missed it.
