Weekend Cranium Dump
I couldn’t wait to get to worship. It had been 3 weeks … THREE WEEKS! … since I had worshiped at a regular gathering at The ROCK. As if there’s such a thing as “regular” with us. And this Sunday was just what I’d hoped for.
- We collected some 300 pairs of shoes for Haiti. Our “hope for at least this much” goal was 200, so 300 put us over the top. Thank you so much for your response.
- Band was awesome. Songs were good. Hearts were better. We had a blown fuse in the first worship, and the whole worship team never missed a beat. Worshipers even picked it up a notch to help them out. I love being part of this church.
- Maybe we had electrical problems because a certain worship leader (who shall go unnamed) touched his lips to a microphone that was grounded to live voltage. And he (who will remain unnamed) heard a pop, and saw black spots, and almost had to go home to change his pants. Rehearsal was “live!”
- We set some records today. Biggest attendance on a regular Sunday, and most ever in one time slot (590/400).
- And THAT was on a Sunday when we spent a month telling people that today was all about bringing our biggest offering ever.
- I still don’t know what that amount will be.
- Probably less than $20 million (inside joke for those who were there today).
- For the record, I love Madea. Just a thought. I wish she was my bodyguard.
- We didn’t get many written testimonies today. Apparently we aren’t making much difference. :/
- Next Sunday is going to rock. Most new churches wither and die (or might as well) in their first 5 years. God has been so good to us. And some of you reading this have been good to us too.
- Next Sunday is all about celebrating what God has done, and looking forward to what He’s going to do.
- Invite everybody you know.
- No word yet from Dwight Schrute, Jack Bauer, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Haven’t heard from the President either.
- The Governor has sent his regrets. Probably hiking or something.
