Weekend Cranium Dump
Thank you Lord for a pretty Sunday. I prayed early this morning for churches up north who missed more worship services (& offerings) because of the snow and ice. My ROCK weekend actually started early with a Friday night oyster roast just for our Hospitality Team. It’s a hard-working and top-notch bunch of people who love Jesus. And they love the privilege of serving others.
- They (the Hospitality Team) are the first people I see when I show up. I’m at home studying my notes from about 6:30-8:00am. The whole 9am crew is already there when I roll up in the ROCK Van. And they make ME feel welcomed.
- Worship Team brought their A-game. They need to record some stuff.
- Preacher was a little long-winded, and cheated them out of some music time. Can’t guarantee it won’t happen again.
- We worshiped bare-footed today. It was a first for me.
- God is always 2 things: transcendent AND immanent … holy AND here.
- I don’t know if anybody else connected with the message, but I loved it. And I’ll preach the central theme of it ’til they pry the Bible from my cold, dead fingers: Get worship right, and you’ll get everything else right.
- Loved the video clip from Francis Chan’s Crazy Love. Click HERE to watch it again.
- Shove this aside and go read Psalm 8 right now. Sooooooo true.
- Somebody got saved today. BAMM!
- A 20-year-old emailed me to say that this is the church he’s always wanted. BAMM!
- A dozen first-time guest cards.
- We experimented with literally “passing the buckets” today. It’s just a trial run. We’re never going to become a church that begs for money. But we also don’t need to be a church that minimizes the importance of worshiping through obedient giving.
- Next Sunday is going to be unlike any you have ever experienced at The ROCK. Seriously. Come expecting something crazy. Might blow your mind. It’s either going to be one of the best or absolute worst ideas we’ve ever had.
- Congrats to the Saints. They aren’t “my team,” but I love to see any worst-to-first dream become reality. Who Dat!
