Wanna help?

We’ll go pick up over 120 turkeys this Saturday (12/19) morning and deliver them to every home in Darden Terrace.  We’ll pick them up at 9:30 from Laurie’s IGA on W. Main in Conway.  We’ll start delivering at 10:30 at Darden Terrace (right by our future church property).  And we can use everybody who wants to help (9:30 pick-up too).

IT’S OVER A HALF-TON OF FROZEN BIRD!

We will slowly drive a box-truck through the neighborhood as we knock on every door and give away the turkeys (& some precious hand-made cards from our KidZRock kids).  I would love to have several teams of 3-4 people scattering to several doors at once.  “Here’s a gift from our church, The ROCK.  We look forward to being your neighbors soon.  We’d love for you to come to our church if you don’t already have a church home.”

This part is important …

Our effort is all about building bridges of friendship with our future neighbors.  We DO NOT want to be the predominantly white church people giving hand-outs to the predominantly ethnic neighborhood.  That would insult me if I was a resident there.   I said exactly that to some of the community leaders there before we co-sponsored the Fall Festival.  We want to serve them,  love them, and find ways to partner together to meet needs and introduce people to Jesus.  THANK YOU TO THOSE WHO GAVE TOWARD THIS EFFORT.  We received ALL the money needed, and a week early.  You folks are awesome.

We can use your help.  With enough delivery volunteers, we should be done by lunch.  Unless, of course, long conversations and new friendships keep some of us there for awhile.
