Weekend De-Brief
I love me some Thanksgiving Weekend. It’s like having 3-4 Saturdays in a row. Love the opportunity to hang out with family, watch some ballgames, eat like an idiot, and feel brilliant for NOT sleeping outside to
barely miss buying the oh-so-cheap camera/TV/laptop/whatever … when the Black Friday doors open.
In case you haven’t heard, I hope to have an exciting announcement ready by THIS SUNDAY. Maybe 2. ![]()
Some things from Sunday:
- Missed Mary and Mark, but The ROCK Band still led us into God’s presence. We’ve got a ways to go as a congregation, but I love being part of people who aren’t ashamed to worship out loud.
- (ALWAYS hesitant to hype attendance, but…) Largest post-Thanksgiving Sunday crowd in ROCK history.
- If you had to make a choice between getting rid of our volunteers or getting rid of me, kick me to the curb. Our volunteers are incredible.
- Over $1200 given toward Turkeypalooza. We want to provide a Christmas turkey for every housing unit in Darden Terrace. If contributions exceed the price of birds, we’ll provide more stuff (canned food, rice, grocery store cards, etc.) or give the remaining money to C.A.P. food bank or The Shepherd’s Table.
- I’m getting calls asking if we provide Christmas food or gifts for families. If you, your business, or your MyGroup want to “adopt” a family for Christmas, email me (kevin@rock.org).
- GREAT questions asked at our Naked Truth Textath0n. If I can retrieve them, Doug and/or I will try to provide answers to the questions we didn’t get to on Sunday.
- I wouldn’t mind making the text-athon an annual ROCK thing. But next time, we’ll do a better job of testing the technology first.
- Pray for our staff as we prepare for a planning “mini-retreat” this weekend.

Feel brilliant all you want. I got my laptop, monitor, and camera dirt cheap, with no trampling (if you go to Best Buy only).
