Thx
There’s never been a Thanksgiving season wherein I didn’t realize just how blessed my life is. This one is no different – except for this: Maybe this year is even better. I am overwhelmed with the goodness of God.
Some examples:
- I am so thankful for my family. My wife hasn’t kicked me out (maybe because she knows that if she leaves, I’ll go with her). Hannah has always been perfect, and is married to a wonderful son-in-law … and Gray (the perfect grand-spawn) gets more fun every day. Josiah makes us so proud serving as a warrior in the US Army. Haddon and Evan are doing great at school -with college athletics as a reward for years of hard work. Jud might be the most agreeable, low-maintenance kid I’ve ever met in ANY family. Ian has always been – and continues to be – the family toy. God gave me the planet’s best parents. My sister’s bringing the turkey tomorrow, and she doesn’t publicly divulge what a jerk I’ve often been. Thank you Lord for my family.
- I am thankful for the Leadership Team at The ROCK. Many have been with us since the very beginning, and some have jumped in later – but at full speed. I am so thankful for our Staff. Nobody sees just how much work and sacrifice they invest in our church. I am thankful for David Dorman who has recently left us to pursue other ministry interests. He was on board from the very 1st, and his imprint is all over every part of our ministry. He has coordinated or worked in almost every area of our ministry. He’s made every banner. He has served as an Elder. He will be greatly missed, and I am thankful for him.
- I am thankful for the army of awesome volunteers at The ROCK. WE COULD NOT DO a fraction of what we do without our volunteers. One Sunday, we’re going to put together a worship gathering with NO volunteers to show what it would be like if they didn’t fulfill their calling to ministry. It won’t be pretty.
- I am thankful for my health. I am fatter, lazier, and older than I want to be. But today’s cardiologist appointment was very good. I’ve faced cancer, heart disease, psoriasis, and knee surgery. But God has sustained me through it all, and I still see a vision of myself setting an example of wellness and fitness. Give me some time, and I’m going to honor God by becoming that guy.
- I am thankful for a wide array of personal blessings. People who – just because they are incredibly gracious – bless me. I have an office to work from, an uber-cool van to drive
, a wonderful home, the greatest church family in the world, a church vision that makes my heart race, the privilege of doing ministry in my beloved home town, friends who are as close as family, and problems too trivial to even mention.
THANK YOU LORD.
MY LIFE IS BETTER THAN I DESERVE.
I PRAY THAT EVERYBODY WHO READS THIS HAS THEIR BEST EVER THANKSGIVING.
