Sunday De-Brief

Sitting in the Command Center with a belly full of grilled stuff … watching a snowy, icy, sloppy football game being played on TV.  Ahhh.  Watched Minnesota and BRETT FARVE hold on to stay undefeated.  It’s a little surreal seeing the legendary QB sitting on the bench beside a guy I watched play 9th grade and high school ball (Sidney Rice).  It’s the way Sunday afternoons SHOULD be spent.  Some thoughts on the morning:

  • Honestly, it was kind of an odd ROCK Sunday.
  • Lots of folks grieving over the tragic events at CFHS, the loss of Benji Cunningham and Debbie Peavy, and concern for Bobby Watford.  Glad we took some time to pray just for those in pain.
  • Last Sunday was a party … surge in attendance … loud.   Then this Sunday was off a little, somber, serious.
  • We had some music-mess up IN THE 2nd SERVICE.  How does THAT happen?  LOL.
  • Some serious words: We only love Jesus as much as we love the one we love the least.
  • And:  Maybe the truth is that we love our comfort zones more than we love their souls.
  • And from an avowed Atheist:  If you believe there is a Hell and an Everlasting life, how much do you have to hate somebody NOT to tell them about it?
  • If you aren’t in a MyGroup you’re missing at least half the ministry we want for you … and FROM you.
  • Missed a bunch of our college students.  They’re on break.
  • Saw a lady in Wal-Mart after church who stuck her hands out and said, “ROCK Zombie …”  Awesome.
  • Also saw a referee I yelled at last week.  It’s allowed.  Just sayin.
  • We agreed this morning (at least I think we did) that we love people by telling them about Jesus and our church.  I wonder how many people will come hear the gospel because we invite our friends this week?
